The legendary perfumer Francois Coty, who invented the first cipher perfumes, probes and perfume lines. A review from Sunday21.

After becoming a complete orphan at the age of seven, François Coty worked as a secretary in Paris. And one day, his friend the pharmacist commissioned him to sort the orders at the pharmacy. Among which were aromatic oils and colognes. On this case, he didn't notice how the night changed in the morning. Departing from the obsession, he offered a friend to mix a couple of ingredients to create his own cologne and then he realized that he was a true perfumer. Then he studied with a famous master named Antoine Shiris, and he noticed how quickly his pupil became superior to his teacher. After refusing several perfume shops, where he tried to make deliveries of his perfumes, he did quite cleverly. He broke his bottle of La Rose Jacqueminot perfume right on the floor of the store, and many of those who came into it wanted to buy this fragrance, which smells like a shop. In 1904 a lot of fragrances were sold, which brought Francois Coty a million francs.

The first appearance of chimes, probes and perfume lines.

The first chypre appeared in 1917 thanks to Coty, he created a composition with oak moss, patchouli and incense, which could last from five to eight hours. Few people know, but the main composition of the legendary Chanel N5 perfume also includes chypre notes. The perfumer is also the first to launch a whole perfume line with powders, gels, perfumes, soaps, oils, balsams, which were combined with original fragrances. Also this master for the first time began to make probes, so that the perfume could be tasted before the purchase. His company has produced more than 130 fragrances, to this day the gold base remains those created by the founder of the perfume house. Francois was also a newspaper tycoon in Ajaccio and sponsored many cultural projects. Leaving his great contribution and trace in the world perfumery, the famous Francois Coty died in 1934.
