ASUS TUF FX505 GM gaming notebook is a powerful platform for modern games. Review from Sunday21.
Today we'll look at the ASUS TUF FX505 GM notebook, as we know it's part of the series with inexpensive gaming notebooks that have Nvidia GTX 1050, 1050i and 1060 video cards, we'll look at the latest version. What is remarkable is that the laptop comes in several color palettes, can be gray-gold or other red shades. The cover comes only in one model is metal, in other variants it is plastic. The design as a whole is not as aggressive as the name suggests, there is a neckline with a trapezoidal shape at the bottom of the cover, which is made for improved cooling system. When you lift the lid, you will be able to see a keyboard with a pleasant light AURA, WASD buttons are of course highlighted. With the AURA program you will be able to adjust the backlighting of the keyboard to your liking and mood, there are several modes: ripple, strobing and constant glow. No complaints about the overall design, everything is elegant, simple and tasteful.
The ASUS TUF FX505 GM keyboard and notebook screen are stylish and neat.
In addition to the beautiful backlighting, the ASUS TUF FX505 GM keyboard features Overstroke technology. With it, the moment the necessary key is triggered is another half of its pressing, which is very often won in the gameplay. As you know, the keys can withstand up to 20 million keystrokes. The power button is on top of the keyboard, it is almost impossible to catch it during the "online-squatting". And there is, of course, a standard touchpad that works correctly. The notebook screen is 15.6 inches diagonal, it has IPS level-matrix, has Full HD resolution, its coverage is matte. The picture is transferred smoothly and with good color saturation, the viewing angles are quite large, has a large margin of brightness. The refresh rate is about 144 Hz. The frame of the display edges is quite narrow, but it is also sheltered from above by a webcam. The screen looks neat and stylish, with no redundancy.
The heart of the notebook and what you need for maximum gaming enjoyment.
Now let's move on to the main part of our article, namely, the filling of the device. On board is a processor with six Intel Core i7-8750H cores running at a frequency from 2.1 to 4.1 GHz. The processor is capable of performing any tasks and will launch any game. The device has 16 Gbytes of DDR4-266 MHz type RAM. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 video card with 6GB of dedicated video memory is responsible for graphics. And also installed a standard video core called Intel UHD 630, with which you can perform normal everyday tasks. The notebook can start working 10 seconds after the power button is pressed. This series of notebooks uses a bunch of SSDs and HDDs. A 256GB SSD and 1 terabyte of hard disk drive are available. Of course, for a gaming notebook you need as much memory as possible and you always want your work processes to run as fast as possible.
The ASUS TUF FX505 GM notebook durability test was very surprising.
This device passed the durability test for MIL-STD-810G. It was tested for shock, vibration, humidity, altitude and solar radiation. As it turned out, the notebook is 36 times better able to withstand vibration than standard devices, plus it is 3 times easier to withstand high temperatures and 2 times stronger than standard notebooks. During a busy game you can react impulsively and the notebook will withstand it. The notebook on the left side has the following ports: 2 USB 3.1 ports, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI 2.0, network port, power connector and standard 3.5mm audio connector. Not the strongest side is the internal battery, for everyday tasks it will be enough for 3 hours with one charge, if you play, then about one hour, so it is worth playing from the network. To sum up, the device has a good design, nice screen with good color rendering, relatively small size and weight of 2.2 kg, plus a laptop tested for strength. The only downside is a weak battery, but for such a price the laptop outperforms many others.
